Cultural Management Clinic
Songkhla Heritage Clinic: “Youth Empowerment in SEACHA Heritage Cities Network: Building Capacity, Celebrating Heritage”
SEACHA is organizing a Cultural Heritage Management Clinic program in Songkhla, Thailand, from 26 to 29 February 2024 under the theme: “Youth Empowerment in Heritage Cities Network: Building Capacity, Celebrating Heritage.” We are organizing the clinic in partnership with the Songkhla Heritage Trust and The Siam Society Under Royal Patronage.
The clinic will emphasize place-making, achieved through creating trails and itineraries rooted in grassroots local stories and cultural mapping. Its central mission is to empower the community by fostering economic opportunities and honouring the vibrant living heritage of Songkhla. The training will provide participants a comprehensive understanding of sustainable place making and community-based conservation and development within the framework of cultural wisdom and climate action, fostering a holistic approach to responsible tourism and community empowerment.
The training will provide the participants with an understanding of the general issues related to managing and regulating conservation and development, especially in the following topics: Sustainable Place Making, Community-Based Conservation, Cultural Wisdom, and Climate Action.
The clinic is open for 25 participants who are local youth activists, young professionals, and young government officers to attend this workshop. Some parts of this clinic will be recorded and uploaded on the SEACHA YouTube channel later on. The clinic will be conducted in Thai and English language.
SEACHA’s Clinic Workshop Program is an initiative designed to build capacity within the local community, particularly among the youth, with support from key stakeholders such as government bodies, NGOs, universities, and corporations. This program aims to empower the community and emphasize the strengthening of collaboration and networking.
